The CWU/FedEx Strategy
It is our branch’s goal to achieve union recognition in FedEx Customer Services at Sutherland House in Coventry. Additionally we also would like members at FedEx to have their own section structure within our branch and their own representative. These are goals for the future however and much work needs to be done before we can achieve them. In the meantime the branch already has a number of members who work for FedEx at Sutherland House and we are continuing to build on that membership.
As more people at FedEx join the CWU the nearer we move to achieving our goal of attaining those members a workplace in which their trade union is recognised by the company.
If you work for FedEx at Sutherland House in Coventry and are not a member of the Communication Workers Union but are interested in joining then please contact me |

A Little Bit About Me...
I have been a Trade Union Official for the CWU for over 14 years. For approximately 12 of those years I was a union representative for what was BT’s Telegram Service. Additionally for 4 years I was a regional representative responsible for CWU members in BT’s Directory Enquiry Service in the Midlands & Wales. I have vast experience in representing CWU members at discipline hearings and in grievances.
Over the course of the past 2 and a half years I have successfully represented a number of CWU members at FedEx at Sutherland House at their Discipline and Grievance Hearings. I have also had the opportunity to speak to many FedEx staff about issues that effect them such as their basic pay, their duties, their legal rights and trial schemes that the company has wanted to run.
I have a good understanding of the overall issues that affect you at work. |

The CWU/Capita Strategy
It is our branch’s goal to build CWU membership in Capita at Tower Court and Prologis Park. Our branch currently has members in both locations and we’d like to continue to recruit members in these locations so that staff working there can enjoy the benefits of trade union membership |
|
If you are a member of the CWU Coventry Area Branch and work for a company that doesn't recognise the CWU then you are a portability member. As a Portability member you will enjoy exactly the same benefits of union membership as CWU members that work for companies that do recognise the CWU with the exception of collective bargaining rights. This means that until such time as your company recognises the CWU we cannot negotiate with your employer regarding your terms and conditions of employment. However in the meantime the CWU can represent you at discipline and grievance hearings and offer you advice on work issues that affect you. |
|
If you work for either FedEx at Sutherland House or Capita at Tower Court or Prologis Park and are interested in joining the CWU then please contact our branch via the contact details below... |
|
If you don’t work for either FedEx or Capita and are interested in joining the CWU Coventry Area Branch then you are more than welcome to do so. The CWU is predominantly a communications industry based trade union. However if you work in another sector other than communications and want to join then that is fine. However before you join you may want to check that there isn’t another trade union organising in your workplace, as they may be better suited to representing you, especially if they do have recognition rights with your employer. |
